But for some, it can be a bit intimidating. So much so that they even came up with a word for it:&nbsp;<strong>gymtimidation<\/strong>. Yes, it&#8217;s a made-up word. However, we assure you: the feeling is real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gymtimidation describes the feeling of intimidation to go to the gym due to fear of judgement or anxiety<\/strong>. This can result from the pressure of not knowing how to use weights and machines or being unconfident about our bodies and how they compare with other gym-goers. If these words resonate with you, let us assure you:&nbsp;<strong>you&#8217;re not alone.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gymtimidation is real&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gymtimidation is a real issue.&nbsp;<strong>In fact,&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fitrated.com\/resources\/workout-worries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>an American survey<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;found that almost 65% of women admitted to avoiding the gym due to anxiety or fear of judgement. 36.1% of men said the same. In the UK, 1 in 4 women admitted they were &#8220;too intimidated to go to the gym&#8221;.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Different factors contribute to this feeling: seeing the gym as an unfamiliar place, and feeling unattractive, awkward, unfit and inexperienced are some of the reasons preventing people from joining a gym. No one wants to let a friend down.&nbsp;<strong>So, bring a friend and make a pact to show up for each other.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3 &#8211; Reframe your perspective&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you feel intimidated by the idea of being judged by others, it&#8217;s important to help you change your perspective.&nbsp;<strong>The reality is that many people, regardless of age, weight, or gender, feel self-conscious in the gym<\/strong>.
